The minister said in his address, at the opening of the 12th Oran International Arab Film Festival, that “in the last two years, Algeria, in addition to several great cultural projects, inaugurated the first cinematographic city in the country’s south and launched projects to execute others in other regions, in addition to the launch of the project of the national Centre of film archives, as well as the first National High Institute of Cinema, named after Mohamed Lakhdar Hamina, and the first high school of art in Africa.”

The sector’s first official underlined in her address the promulgation of a presidential decree on the status of artists and a law on film industries, in addition to the launch of new films, now eligible to compete at big international festivals.

She underlined that “this wouldn’t have been possible without the exceptional support of the country’s top authorities, notably the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” who possesses “a highly relevant cultural vision for cinema and creative arts, which he considers as soft powers that strengthen the identity and preserve the memory.”

Addressing a gathering of Arab filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts, Mouloudji said that "the Ministry of Culture and Arts, through the Oran International Arab Film Festival - which has established itself as a significant cinematic tradition and the largest event dedicated to Arab cinema and its challenges - reaffirms the unwavering stance of Algerian leaders and people towards the Palestinian cause.”

The support to this cause is demonstrated by devoting an important space for the Palestinian cinema of this 12th edition, by screening a series of films entitled “Zero Distance,” she added.
