Culture minister chairs study day on national networking, sectoral libraries and digital transition

ALGIERS- Minister of Culture and Arts, Zohir Ballalou, chaired on Monday, in Algiers, the works of a study day on national networking, sectoral libraries and digital transition, in the presence of senior executives from the central ministry’s administration, as well as directors of culture, major public reading libraries and institutions under the supervision of the commission responsible of networking and digitization, reported the ministry in a Communiqué.

[ecr] This meeting focused on "ways to improve the quality of services offered by the sector and strengthen cooperation between public libraries, enabling them to meet the expectations of readers and citizens, notably through the modernization of management methods and by relying on national networking and digitization," the source said.

Furthermore, Ballalou highlighted in his speech "the need to adapt to technological changes by improving the service level of main public reading libraries."

The achievement of this goal depended on the progress of digitization and networking, as these are the only effective ways to facilitate access to library services for citizens in general and readers in particular.

In this regard, the minister called on the relevant services in his sector to "encourage and strengthen reading among citizens," reminding them "of the need to adapt to digital developments, including artificial intelligence." [/ecr]
