In a speech delivered on the occasion, the President of the Republic said that this conference “mirrors the State’s commitment to supporting culture and audio-visual activity, while addressing the expectations of film industry’s professionals and intellectuals.”
The President emphasized his “special interest in revitalizing the film industry, noting it should reclaim its former glory by drawing inspiration from the achievements of pioneering filmmakers of the 1970s.”
The President of the Republic also called on the various actors participating in this conference “to outline the future of Algerian cinema, through innovative ideas and visions that will make this renewed industry a cultural mirror reflecting the Algerian personality and national identity.”
“It is high time for culture to be the crowning achievement of this progress and this new dynamic of development that Algeria is experiencing,” he said.
After watching a documentary film about the history of culture and cinema in Algeria, the President of the Republic said “this documentary about the history of our country leaves us speechless,” extending his gratitude to all those who contributed to the glory of Algerian cinema.
“The Algerian cinema was not born by chance, but rather from a revolutionary will,” he emphasized, recalling that the pioneers of Algerian cinema were Mujahedeen for the homeland.
In this respect, the President of the Republic paid tribute to the memory of deceased pioneers of the seventh Art, while also paying homage to those who still adhere to the State’s efforts to promote the film industry.
