President Tebboune calls on international community to develop convention on epidemic control strategy

NEW YORK- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune called Wednesday, in New York, the international community to develop a new convention on epidemic control strategy, with the participation of all the member countries of the World Health Organization (WHO), said Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi.

“I was honored today to deliver the speech of the President of the Republic in a forum on the strategy to fight against epidemics, organized on the sidelines of the works of the 78th UN General Assembly, Saihi told the press, affirming that “the President of the Republic called on the international community to develop a convention on the strategy to adopt in terms of fight against the epidemics and their consequences.”

 

“The initiative proposed by the President of the Republic will be carried out with the participation of all the member States of WHO,” he said.

 

Saihi emphasized the importance of “involving the international community in the proposal made by Algeria to efficiently deal with epidemics and the problems resulting from it,” especially as “the world has experienced recently the pandemic of new coronavirus.”
