Algeria “will be among the first African countries to manufacture this product,” said the minister, adding that this project “was only a dream a dozen of years ago, and it will be soon a reality.”
Concerning the plant’s capacity production, estimated at 1500kg of insulin crystals per year, Aoun said that Algeria’s needs for insulin, as a finished product, are estimated at 500kg which will enable to devote the rest to exportation.
The minister underscored that his second visit to the trade unit of Saidal, in Batna, “reflects the interest of his department to the development of this industry in this province which is imposing itself as an industrial province par excellence,” and a “boost to the manufacturing of medicines, and particularly insulin.”
In this regard, he insisted on the necessity of starting the building of the plant “before early June 2024,” especially as, he added, all the conditions are met.
He said that the start of the production of this product “will enable the completion of the production line of insulin nationwide, of the raw material as well as insulin pens.”
