Healthcare: National ID number assigned to patients’ electronic records 

 

ALGIERS-The Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi held Monday in Algiers a meeting with the directors of hospitals, in which the new version of the electronic patient record was presented, comprising a national identification number.

Speaking on this occasion, the minister said the electronic patient record’s updating was part of the “ministry’s efforts” to modernize the sector and facilitate access to healthcare services, stressing that its new version contained a “national identification number” for each patient, a measure that would facilitate the process of the “instant medical follow up “from any hospital.

The new version contains “all personal and medical data of the patient with the possibility of access from any hospital in the country,” reiterating the importance of the “Health sector digitization, which has reached 97%” and is part of the priorities of the program of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” the minister said.

It should be noted that the decision to update the old version of the electronic patient record was based on nearly 700 proposals submitted by specialists and managers of healthcare facilities to improve services.[/ecr]
