ALGIERS – The 2nd Information and Communication Technologies Forum “CTO Forum” was opened on Monday in Algiers by the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-Enterprises, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, and the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki.

On this occasion, Oualid noted that digitalization in Algeria “is constantly evolving,” stressing the government’s “keen interest” in this field.

He underscored that digitalization “is not a luxury, but must be at the heart of change.”

In this regard Oualid added that the government is working to boost this sector, including the legal framework established as well as the infrastructure developed for this purpose.

He further noted his department’s commitment to “increasing global reach” of digital actors operating in Algeria.

The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Bibi Triki, highlighted “the significant progress” achieved in his sector over the past few years, in terms of “bolstering the country’s technological capabilities, especially through appropriate ICT infrastructure.”

He expressed his commitment to “ensuring widespread access to ICTs nationwide, for the benefit of all segments of society.”

The three-day event is being held at “Moufdi Zakaria” Cultural Palace, featuring 28 exhibitors, 73 startups, and a series of themed conferences.
