Algeria achieves honourable results in International Mathematical Olympiad

ALGIERS- Algeria has achieved honourable results at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad in the United Kingdom, through Derrache Chamseddine Abdelali, who clinched the gold medal, the ministry of National Education said on Saturday in a press release.

“Algeria has achieved a very honourable result at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad in Bath city (Great Britain) from 11 to 22 July 2024, which has witnessed the participation of 108 countries,” the ministry said.

Algeria has won, “for the first time since it started taking part in this prestigious international competition, a gold medal clinched by the student Derrache Chamseddine Abdelali, making Algeria the only Arab and African country ever to win a medal in this competition. The other team members received honorary certificates,” the ministry's statement stressed.[/ecr]
