At the inaugural ceremony, the director of ISYA in Algeria, Nassim Seghouani, said that this edition aims to provide “a very high level of specialized teaching to about 15 Algerian students and an equal number of foreign students in astronomy and astrophysics.”

“This teaching will also help Algeria boost and establish this field of science, especially since the project of an Astronomy Center, the first of its kind since the country's independence, is currently under construction in Khenchela province,” he said, noting that a station of said Center has been operational for four years.

The director of the Research Center in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG), Hamoud Beldjoudi, said that the training provided by this School “will complement the one provided in Algeria and give students the opportunity to initiate projects, follow intensive courses and conduct practical observations.”
