“At the behest of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and given the current situation, a medical commission made up of qualified medical staff, as well as a plane loaded with large quantities of medicines, anti-diphtheria serums and protective equipment were sent on Friday to the provinces of Tamanrasset, In Guezzam and Bordj Badji Mokhtar”,” said the source.
“Given the health situation in certain southern provinces following the appearance of imported cases of diphtheria and malaria, the Ministry of Health reassures that all cases have been treated under current healthcare protocols,” stressing that “the epidemic situation is monitored daily at central and local levels,” said the source.
“The Ministry of Health had dispatched a mission of experts to Tamanrasset and In Guezzam on Thursday to assess the situation and provide a quota of anti-diphtheria drugs and serums,” said the source.
“A second mission will be dispatched next Sunday to the province of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, equipped with anti-diphtheria drugs and serums. These products are distributed throughout the year, as part of the supply of healthcare facilities, and the quantities dispatched through these missions are only additional quantities,” said the source.
“The Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, is monitoring the operation in coordination with the governors of the provinces concerned and the local healthcare facilities,” said the source.
“Algeria has obtained a certificate from the World Malaria Control Organization. The cases recorded recently are imported from affected countries,” pointed out the Ministry of Health.[/ecr]
