KUWAIT, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is scheduled to host the fourth senior-level conference on boosting the international cooperation in fighting terrorism and setting up flexible mechanisms for border security on November 4-5.
The conference is due to be sponsored by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who has deputized His Highness the Crown prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to represent him at the event.
The convention, to be attended by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the UN Undersecretary for Combating Terrorism Vladimir Voronokov, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya in a statement to KUNA on Saturday. It will be organized b the the State of Kuwait, the Republic of Tajikistan and the UN Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT).
It will complementary to the "Dushanbe process for combating terrorism," launched by the Republic of Tajikistan in 2018. The previous three sessions had been hosted by Dushanbe in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
Minister Al-Yahya added that the planned event constitutes a pivotal platform for boosting regional and international cooperation on issues such as border security, fighting and financing terrorism.
Up to 450 personalities including 33 ministers representing the member states, relevant UN agencies, 23 regional and international organizations and 13 civil societies will partake in the conference.
Al-Yahya added that it would be an opportunity to exchange expertise and views regarding the combat against terrorism and means of reinforcing regional and international cooperation at this level.
It is scheduled to conclude on November 5 with the adoption of "Kuwait Declaration" on border security. It will approved as a guiding document for fighting terrorism and bolstering the border security.
The State of Kuwait is hosting the conference in line with its regional and international roles in the field of fighting terrorism and supporting all efforts for uprooting this scourge. (end)
