RIYADH, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Cabinet affirmed on Tuesday that a political settlement constitutes the sole avenue for resolving the crisis in Sudan.
The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Minister of Information Salman Al-Dosari as urging, following a cabinet session, the warring parties in Sudan to adhere to the "Jeddah declaration" agreement, cease firing and facilitate delivery of aid to the afflicted.
The Treaty of Jeddah, which was signed by the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan and representatives of both warring sides on May 20, 2023, was intended to facilitate a week-long ceasefire and the distribution of humanitarian aid within the country.
Minister al-Dosari said the agenda of today's session included the recent organization of the international coalition for the two-state settlement's meeting that drew representatives and officials from 90 states, regional and international organizations, and the Arab-Islamic Follow-up Summit, due on Monday, to discuss the Israeli occupation aggression on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recently organized and hosted the first meeting of the Global Alliance for Implementation of the Two-State Solution to seek to resolve the protracted conflict in the Middle East
At the local level, the cabinet lauded the kingdom's advancement by 15 points in the international ranking of tourism spending in 2023.
On November 1, the World Tourism Organization declared that the kingdom advanced 15 points in the international tourism ranking in 2023, when it came 12th in international tourist spending, a remarkable advancement of 15 places compared to 2019.
Moreover during the session, the cabinet agreed to the Saudi-US framework agreement for cooperation in aviation and space exploration (inked in July) and the accord with Qatar on averting double taxation. (end)
