VIENNA, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) participated on Wednesday in a specialized panel in Vienna, Austria, to discuss the effectiveness of the measures taken to implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
In a statement to KUNA, Observer of International Organizations and Conferences at Nazaha, Dhari Buyabes, said that Kuwait's participation came during his attendance of the UN's 15th second resumed Session in response to an invitation from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Buyabes pointed out that his interventions in the discussion panel stressed the importance of establishing appropriate international mechanisms to determine the extent of implementation required by the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
In addition to evaluating and following up on the effectiveness of the measures taken nationally within the framework of implementing the international recommendations resulting from the review sessions.
He explained that these international meetings happen near conclusion of the second session of the UN Convention against Corruption, with the entry of a new phase, where the UN Convention Implementation Review Group meets periodically to share opinions and exchange views.
He also stressed that Kuwait is keen to meet the information, visions and data required by the groups emanating from the Convention and the UN's Office on Drugs and Crime, in order to strengthen cooperation with countries and international organizations and to represent Kuwait in the best light in international forums related to combating corruption.
