RIYADH, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi congratulated Wednesday president-elect Donald Trump for winning the US elections to be the 47th president.
Al-Budaiwi, in a letter to Trump, congratulated the president-elect for winning confidence of the American people, wishing him best of luck and the US people further prosperity, security and stability, a statement by the GCC Secretariat said.
He said the "deep, historic and permanent" relations between the GCC and the US were the cornerstone of peace, security and development in the Middle East and beyond.
This partnership, said Al-Budaiwi, was crucial in confronting pressing challenges like countering terrorism, energy security, trade, defense, economic growth, technological innovation, clean energy and sustainable development.
Trump announced victory earlier today as the president-elect secured more than 270 electoral college votes. Kamala Harris is yet to recognize his victory. (end)
