WASHINGTON, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- A medical transport jet crashed near a shopping center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania late Friday, according to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The plane crash, which came just a few seconds after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, took place only a couple of days after a passenger plane collided with a military helicopter in Washington D.C.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parke said in a post on X platform, "An aircraft crashed tonight in the vicinity of the Roosevelt Mall on Cottman Avenue. It occurred shortly after 6 p.m. this evening."
"We have no reports on the number of fatalities," she added.
U.S. President Donald Trump said, "So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged."
"First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all," he added. (end)
