NNA - Former Lebanese minister and MP Anwar Sabbah died on Sunday at the age of 91, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.  The deceased was notably a minister in the late 1970s and 1980s. Sabbah was born in Nabatieh in 1933. His father Hussein had emigrated to Mexico, and his grandfather was the mayor of Nabatieh. In 1952, he traveled to the United States to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering, before returning to Lebanon four years later. In 1962, he and his brothers launched the ldquo;Lebanese Egyptian Film Production Company,rdquo; which produced 500 films in Egypt. In 1964, Sabbah, known as an independent politician, ran for the legislative elections on the list of Kamel al-Assaad, chairman of the Social Democratic Party. and won the seat of Nabatieh.  In 1970, he was appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Southern Council. In 1979, he was appointed Minister of Industry and also assumed responsibility for the ministries of Economy, Water, Electricity and Hydrocarbons under the governments of Saeb Salam, Salim al-Hoss, and finally Shafiq Wazzan.  He will be buried today, Monday, in his hometown of Nabbatieh. --- L'Orient Today   ===========
