Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s monarch Abdullah II Tuesday stressed the importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement and accelerating Gaza reconstruction efforts.

Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi and King Abdullah II discussed regional developments, primarily with regard to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, including the exchange of hostages and detainees and the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief to the residents of the sector.

El-Shennawy added that the two leaders emphasized the importance of the full implementation of the agreement and the vital need to accelerate the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that both leaders reiterated the imperative to achieve lasting peace in the region, based on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State, along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the sole guarantor to realizing peace and stability in the Middle East.

They affirmed the necessity to adopt a unified Arab stance, demanding the achievement of enduring peace in the Middle East, so as to achieve the desired stability and economic prosperity.
