September 10, 2024 (SHINDI, Sudan) – The Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army vowed on Tuesday that his forces were poised for a swift victory against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, thanks to the acquisition of new advanced weaponry. Lt. Gen. Yasir al-Atta made the remarks during a visit to the Third Infantry Division headquarters in Shindi, in River Nile State, where he inspected troops and assessed the situation on the front lines. “New, sophisticated weapons have entered the battle,” he told the soldiers. “They will make a big difference and will help us destroy the militia soon.” General al-Atta also said that the army would soon launch an offensive from all directions to “liberate every inch” of Sudanese territory. “The end of the militia is near, and the hour of victory is approaching,” he said. The general accused the RSF of trying to settle mercenaries from West African countries in Sudan, and he called on the United Nations to prevent countries from supplying the group with weapons and other aid.
