September 17, 2024 (PORT SUDAN) – Sudan’s Minister of Minerals, Mohamed Bashir Abunommo, discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation in the mining sector with a visiting Russian delegation on Tuesday. “We had productive discussions on expanding bilateral trade and investment, especially in mining,” Minister Abunommo stated after a meeting with a Russian delegation led by Viktor Chimodanov, Chairman of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council, and Andrey Chernovol, Russian Ambassador to Sudan. “Russia’s expertise in modern mining technologies is of great interest to us,” he added. The meeting is part of a series of visits between officials from the two countries to enhance bilateral economic and industrial relations in different sectors. The Russian delegation emphasized its commitment to deepening ties with Sudan. The statement outlined plans to present a series of proposals to the Sudanese government aimed at fostering collaboration.
