December 7, 2024 (OMDURMAN) – A child was killed, and 14 people were wounded when Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters shelled a medical centre and residential areas in Sudan’s Omdurman on Saturday, the Khartoum state health ministry said. The attack comes as authorities try to restore health services in areas under army control despite frequent shelling by the RSF, which has been battling the army since April. “The rebel militia continued to bomb hospitals and health centres,” the ministry said in a statement, referring to the RSF. It said the shelling of the Al-Zubair Musa Centre in the Al-Omda neighbourhood killed a child and critically wounded three others. The attack came a day after the bombing of the Martyr Ali Abdel Fattah Hospital in Al-Droshab, north of Khartoum Bahri, the ministry added. Health ministry spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim said 11 civilians were also wounded in RSF shelling of Al-Omda and other neighbourhoods in Karari. The RSF has frequently targeted residential areas and hospitals in army-controlled areas with drones and artillery.
