Civilians flee Tekina of Al Jazirah state following first RSF attack on Nov 19, 2024

December 12, 2024 (WAD MADANI) – At least 24 people have been killed and 30 injured in the latest wave of attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on rural areas in Sudan’s Al Jazirah state. The RSF has been targeting villages in eastern Al Jazirah since October 21st, retaliating against the defection of their former commander, Abu Aqla Kikl, who joined forces with the Sudanese army. These ongoing attacks have led to the deaths of thousands of civilians and displaced over 400,000 people. According to the Al Jazirah Conference, a civilian monitoring group, the RSF launched fresh attacks on Wednesday in the Al Hoda area. Villages targeted include Sarhan, Al Adnab, Al Adeed Abu Sawar, Al Hafair Hamad, and Al Qalaa. Eight people were killed in Al Adnab, ten in Al Hafair Hamad, and six more in Sarhan and Al Adeed Abu Sawar. This latest violence follows a similar attack in August, when the RSF raided Al Adnab and Sarhan, killing over 40 people and wounding dozens.
