January 14, 2025 (EL FASHER) – A joint force of Darfur armed movements allied with the Sudanese army on Tuesday repelled an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the town of Al-Malha in North Darfur, near the border with Libya and Chad. In a statement, the force said it launched a surprise attack on RSF gatherings in the “Darishiqi” area of Darfur’s desert region, in coordination with the army and volunteer fighters, following careful intelligence gathering. According to the statement, the RSF attempted to regroup and reorganize its remaining forces near areas controlled by the joint force to launch an attack on Al-Malha and regain control of the strategic border triangle with Libya and Chad. The RSF had previously been expelled from this area, cutting off their supply lines from abroad. The joint force claimed to have destroyed three RSF convoys comprising over 162 military vehicles, destroyed 54 other vehicles, and captured 67 more in excellent condition and equipped with various weapons.
