FRANCE 24 spoke to the head of the NGO Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Jan Egeland, who recently returned from a rare visit to the Gaza Strip. Egeland compared the destroyed urban landscape in the enclave to Stalingrad or Dresden during World War II. He added: "I don't think I can recall in my 40 years as a humanitarian worker any place where so many people have been crammed together in such a small area and sustaining such a continuous bombardment with no escape".
