On January 23, 2020, Wuhan sealed itself off for 76 days, ushering in China's zero-Covid era of strict travel and health controls and foreshadowing the global disruption yet to come. For a deeper perspective on the pandemic, five years on, FRANCE 24's Carys Garland welcomes Florence Débarre, CNRS Research Director at the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences at Sorbonne University and co-Author of a study on the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic. Ms. Débarre warns that we have not yet taken the time to "investigate" the vast patchwork of local and global responses to the pandemic, to "learn from it and be better prepared" next time.
