Barcelona have announced a press conference will be held on Wednesday where Sergio Aguero will make an announcement about his future.
Chest pains forced Aguero, 33, off in October’s clash with Alaves and he subsequently underwent cardiological tests in hospital. The arrhythmia detected has meant he has not trained with team-mates since, as doctors insisted on a three-month monitoring.
Reports in the intervening period have centered on the 101-times-capped Argentina striker being forced into premature retirement. Barca president Joan Laporta will join him when the statement is read out at 12:00 CET.
Aguero has netted once in five matches since his summer arrival at Camp Nou on a free transfer. A club-record tally of 260 goals in 390 appearances had made him a legend at Manchester City from 2011-21.
He’d debuted as a 15-year-old for independiente in 2003, before moving to Atletico Madrid three-years later.
