Turkey’s Shamil Erdogan will go in search of his third consecutive ONE Championship win next week at ONE 171: Qatar – with a familiar foe on the other side of the cage. At ONE 168: Denver, Erdogan took on the history-making Aung La N Sang, in just his second ONE Championship bout. Aung La N Sang, a hero in his home country of Myanmar, was a former two-weight MMA world champion, having ruled over both middleweight and light-heavyweight classes in ONE Championship. He had built a three-fight win streak, but that was brought to a shuddering halt by Erdogan who put on a tactical masterclass to down one of the ONE’s most storied and loved fighters. Having taken the fight to the ground in the second round, Erdogan, who took his professional record to 10-0, was able to flatten out his opponent before going on to rain down a series of vicious elbows and hammerfists, forcing referee Herb Dean to step in. The two will now go at it again – with both men having their sights on current divisional king Anatoly Malykhin.  Relive the first encounter here   You can watch ONE 171: Qatar on Thursday February 20th at 5pm Mecca at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
