Saudi authorities recently made several drug-related arrests and confiscations in operations across the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday. In Asir’s Al-Raboah sector, Border Guard patrols intercepted 80 kg of qat. In Jazan’s Al-Dayer governorate, six Ethiopians were arrested for smuggling 90 kg of qat, while another attempt involving 19 kg was also thwarted. In Jeddah, a Pakistani resident and a Saudi citizen were arrested for selling hashish. Meanwhile, in Asir’s Al-Farshah governorate, a citizen was caught smuggling qat hidden in his vehicle. Preliminary legal procedures have been completed for all the individuals involved and all seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities, who have called on the public to report all information regarding drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom.
