Police have successfully uncovered a drug trafficking network, following a carefully orchestrated sting operation that lured a suspect with the offer of drugs for just 500 fils. The Asian national, who had been under surveillance, attempted to flee as police closed in on him during the deal in the heart of the operation. However, his escape was short-lived, as authorities tracked him to his home, where they arrested him. The Anti-Narcotics Directorate, acting on a crucial tip-off, swiftly mobilized a covert team after informants revealed that the suspect was in possession of a stash of psychoactive substances meant for both personal use and trafficking. The information proved to be vital in bringing the operation to fruition. Once in custody, police made more discoveries. They recovered 307 grams of crystal methamphetamine—known locally as ‘shabu’—as well as 12 dinars believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
