The global population hit a record number of 8.156 billion in 2024, anticipated to reach 10.3 billion in the 2080s. This marks an increase of 82 million compared to last year, according to the German Foundation for World Population. The United Nations predicts that the population will exceed 9 billion by 2037, following the 8 billion mark in November 2022. The foundation highlighted that the rate of growth has slowed considerably, with current global fertility rates standing at 2.2 children per woman.
