Kuwait’s Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation is stepping up efforts to review and revoke citizenship in cases deemed illegitimate, with 32,000 naturalised wives of Kuwaiti citizens under Article 8 expected to face scrutiny, a government source said. The committee, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al Yousef Saud Al Sabah, has already decided to strip 4,246 individuals of their Kuwaiti nationality. According to the source, the review of Article 8 files is set to be completed by the end of January. Weekly committee meetings will continue to audit files flagged for forgery, duplication, or other irregularities. The committee is also developing stricter eligibility standards for Kuwaiti citizenship to protect national identity. “If even a single instance of forgery is found, the entire file will be audited, including all registered individuals,” the source said, adding that repeat offenses are often uncovered during these investigations.
