Indonesian authorities have deported a Saudi tourist accused of attacking a mosque keeper and overstaying his visa, according to a media report.  The Indonesian Immigration Directorate’s enforcement head Yudi Yusman said under Indonesian law, foreign nationals who disrupted public order could be subject to sanctions ranging from deportation or limitation of their stay permit to the cancellation of their stay permit, reported the Jakarta Post. “We also encourage citizens to participate in reporting potential violations by foreigners around their residences,” Yuldi said at a press conference in Jakarta. The harassment incident took place last week in West Java and was captured in a video that went viral on social media, according to the report. The incident began when the Saudi man, identified by his initials MA, refused to remove his footwear at a designated area in the mosque. When the mosque keeper reminded him of the rule, the tourist reportedly struck him. The victim and mosque officials later forgave the assailant, who was also found to have overstayed his visa, which had expired on January 8. He entered Indonesia with visa on arrival on December 10.
