Apple announced posting record quarterly sales in India in the October-December period, with the iPhone becoming the top-selling smartphone model in India during this period. This highlights the growing importance of India for Apple as a counterbalance to challenges in China. The iPhone was the top-selling model in India for the quarter, and it’s the second-largest smartphone market in the world and the third-largest for PCs and tablets, and so there’s a huge market, and we have a very modest share in these markets, and so I think there’s lots of upside there, and that’s just one of the emerging markets,” Cook reportedly said during the company’s earnings call. “Today Apple is reporting our best quarter ever, with revenue of $124.3 billion, up 4 per cent from a year ago,” Cook said. Cook, citing a recent survey by Kantar, also said the iPhone was a top-selling model in the US, urban China, India, the UK, France, Australia, and Japan during the December quarter. Analysts said this is the first time the iPhone has become the largest-selling smartphone model in India, with iPhone 15 emerging as the best-selling model during the October-December quarter.
