A Kuwaiti man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of detaining his wife, assaulting a security official and causing grievous bodily harm to him. A Kuwaiti criminal court issued the sentence against the man after he was charged with cutting four tendons in the policeman’s hand using a sword, Kuwaiti news website Almajilis has reported. The verdict is linked to a case that dates to May last year when police in Al Shamiya area of Kuwait City received a report from a Ukrainian woman accusing her Kuwaiti husband of assaulting her and threatening to kill her. She claimed he possessed firearms in the house. Police summoned the suspect to question him about his wife’s complaint. He was arrested and later escorted by police to his house to seize the weapons mentioned in the report. During their search of the place, police found a Kalashnikov, four pistols, and a quantity of drugs including hashish and marijuana.
