Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders Region boasts an abundance of mineral resources, valued at more than SR4.669tn ($1.2tn). These resources form part of the Kingdom’s vast mineral reserves, which are being explored and developed in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The initiative aims to establish mining as a key contributor to economic diversification and national income. Saudi mining industry The region is home to significant phosphate deposits, a critical component in ensuring both local and global food security due to its essential role in agricultural fertiliser production. Phosphate production projects in Wa’ad Al-Shamal City have positioned Saudi Arabia among the world’s largest producers and exporters of phosphate.
