Authorities in the Saudi holy city of Mecca have launched the first edition of a map designed to help visitors explore the city’s historical sites more easily. The “Discover Mecca” map, introduced by the Royal Commission for Mecca City and the Holy Sites, highlights major historical, cultural, and commercial landmarks while providing brief descriptions to help visitors and residents identify and access them conveniently. To enhance accessibility, the Commission has provided a QR code for users to scan and download the map. The initiative is part of the Commission’s strategy to ensure the sustainability of Mecca’s historical sites, increase social interaction, and strengthen the local economy. According to Commission CEO Saleh Al Rasheed, developing the map marks a significant step toward preserving historical landmarks, improving visitor engagement, and promoting these sites as cultural and tourist destinations. He added that an interactive digital version of the map has also been launched and can be accessed through the “Discover Mecca” page on the Commission’s official website.
