Traffic police in the Saudi port city of Jeddah successfully contained a large ostrich that had escaped from a nature reserve and was causing a disruption on a busy road, according to local media reports. The ostrich, which had fled the reserve in northeastern Jeddah, was spotted on Friday on Haramain Road, the Saudi news portal Sabq reported. The large, flightless bird, known for its speed, was nearing traffic and could have caused accidents. However, traffic patrolmen acted swiftly, clearing the road and guiding the ostrich away from vehicles. Despite heavy traffic, the officers were able to maneuver the ostrich off the road. They dismounted and restrained the bird, neutralizing the potential danger. Authorities from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture were contacted and sent a team to capture and transport the ostrich.
