During a session focused on “illegal migration and human trafficking,” Merad highlighted “Algeria's efforts, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and its initiatives aimed at backing development efforts in African countries, particularly in border regions, through structuring projects and cooperation and solidarity actions in the region.”

He also underscored Algeria's interest in addressing illegal migration through “a comprehensive vision that meets common aspirations in tackling these challenges.”

On the sidelines of this meeting, Merad held bilateral talks with his Libyan and Italian counterparts, with whom he discussed numerous questions of common interest.

Italy holds this year's rotating presidency of the G7, which also includes the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Germany, and Canada.
