Boughali attends preparatory meeting of 6th World Conference of Parliament Speakers in Geneva

ALGIERS- The speaker of the People's National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, took part Friday, in Geneva, in the second preparatory meeting of the sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments 2025, the lower house said in a statement.

After he presented the main lines of the conference, its themes and recommendations, Boughali underlined "the importance of enriching the debates, especially in the issues of peace, migration and respect of human rights," the statement said.

During the meeting, chaired by Tulia Ackson, the president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Boughali stressed "the importance of putting on the agenda the contribution of parliaments in the implementation of UN resolutions, mandatory compliance with international law and support for just causes."

He also underlined "the need for parliaments to get their governments to help the most affected countries by extreme weather events, and to ensure that such countries have early warning systems, especially African countries."
