PM receives UN System's Resident Coordinator Ambassador to Algeria

ALGIERS– Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui received on Sunday, at the Government Palace, the United Nations System’s Resident Coordinator Ambassador to Algeria, Alejandro Alvarez, who paid him a farewell visit at the end of his mission, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's office.

[ecr] The two parties discussed "the current regional and international situation, as well as the new global challenges facing multilateral action in a complex, changing, and highly tense international environment."

They further emphasized "the importance of strengthening international efforts to address development issues in many countries, particularly in Africa, and to overcome crises by strengthening the foundations of stability and development," the source added. 

In addition, the two officials addressed "the different aspects of cooperation between Algeria and the United Nations specialized agencies, as part of the cooperation framework agreement for sustainable development in Algeria for 2023-2027," said the source.

In the meantime, they highlighted the need to monitor these programs and sped up their implementation," according to the same source. 

Furthermore, "the UN Ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Algeria, recalling the fruitful meetings granted by President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres," the PM's office concluded. [/ecr]
