In an interview granted to APS on the occasion of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Revolution, Rebiga emphasized the depth of the lessons that this “particular” event represents, mirroring “an attachment to national identity and memory and a key factor of social cohesion as well as strengthening of the Loyalty values towards the symbols of the State, while consolidating the bond of belonging to the nation.”
“The Revolution of 1 November 1954 is a fundamental reference from which one cannot deviate, out of fidelity to the legacy of the martyrs and the Mujahedeen,” he said, noting that celebrating this anniversary “is part of the new Algeria built on solid foundations, which draws from its glorious past the principles underlying a sovereign State with strong institutions, a promising economy, an influential diplomacy and a solidly unified domestic front.”
The minister emphasized that the New Algeria “has enshrined the November 1st Proclamation as a fundamental reference in its Constitution,” He recalled that the statement of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirming that November 1st cannot be limited to monotonous celebrations.”
Rebiga said that Algeria “is progressing through deep reforms, institution-building, economic dynamism, diplomatic resurgence, and the people's unity around the country's leadership and army, thus enabling it to confront various challenges.”
As for the writing of history and the recovery of the National Archives, Rebiga said that his sector “places the preservation of national memory at the top of its priorities, in implementation of the program of the President of the Republic, with a view to transmitting the values and ideals of the glorious Revolution of November.”
The minister said he was convinced that the writing of national history “is a long-term process, not linked to a specific commemoration or any national occasion,” affirming that the Ministry of Mujahideen has been involved in this file for decades, in accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, by redoubling efforts for the documentation of national memory.”
Over the past few years, the Ministry has printed over 1,200 history books about the period of popular resistance, the national movement and the 1 November 1954 Revolution. They have also seen a "qualitative" advance, printing over 150 historical books for the 60th anniversary of independence.[/ecr]
