The welcome ceremony began with the salute to the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the General by a military formation representing the different forces of the People’s National Army (PNA).
During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the National Defense, the Force Commanders, the National Gendarmerie, department heads and central directors of PNA Staff and the Ministry of National Defense, the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Algeria and members of the Indian delegation, both parties discussed “areas of bilateral military cooperation and avenues to strengthen security coordination, as well as exchanged views on international security challenges and current issues.”
In this regard, General Chanegriha made an address at the end of which “he first welcomed India’s Chief of Defense Staff, emphasizing the strength of the historical relations and ties between both countries.”
“I seize this opportunity to underline the strong relations and historical ties uniting our two countries. India supported our Liberation Revolution and defended our people's right to self-determination, particularly within the Non-Aligned Movement, for which President Nehru played a key role in its foundation and established the principles of liberation and decolonization,” he said.
“The recent visit by the President of the Republic of India, Mrs. Daroupadi Murmura, constitutes a tangible proof of the unwavering will of both countries' leaders to give fresh impetus to the bilateral relations and expand cooperation prospects in various fields,” he said.
He pointed out that "the exchanges between the two Heads of State also made it possible to outline new perspectives and adopt future strategies likely to enhance the level of bilateral cooperation, by activating all common mechanisms within the framework of joint commissions, namely the joint cooperation commission and the political consultation mechanism, with the aim of elevating the partnership, based on historical ties uniting our two nations, to its highest level."
General Chanegriha also expressed "his gratitude to his host for honouring the invitation to take part in the festivities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of our glorious Liberation Revolution of November 1, 1954, which demonstrates their commitment to strengthening the solid ties that unite the two friendly countries."
