Death of Mohamed Smaïn: Minister of Communication extends condolences

ALGIERS- The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, extended Saturday, his condolences following the death of journalist Mohamed Smaïn, at the age of 72.

“The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, learned with immense sadness this morning of the death of the great journalist Mohamed Smaïn, in intensive care in Oran, at the age of 72,” reads the condolence message.

“The deceased was one of the first writers to join “El Djoumhouria” newspaper in the late 1980s, actively contributing to the newspaper’s development and the enrichment of Algeria’s media landscape,” he added.

In this difficult time, “the Minister of Communication presents his sincere condolences to the press family and expresses his deep compassion to the deceased’s family and loved ones, praying to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased His holy mercy and to give patience and comfort to his loved ones. “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return,” concluded the message.
