UNAOC Forum: Attaf holds bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts

ALGIERS-The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral meetings on Wednesday, in Cascais (Portugal), with foreign ministers of several brotherly countries, on the sidelines of his participation in the second day of the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Forum, the ministry said in a press release.

Attaf held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad of the Tunisian Republic, Mohamed Ali Nafti, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad Togo, Robert Dussey.

During their discussions, Attaf and his Turkish counterpart congratulated each other on the “exceptional level of the economic bilateral relations, whether in terms of trade volume or Turkish investments in Algeria,” said the press release.

The two parties also stressed “the importance of intensifying joint efforts to achieve the goals outlined by the leaders of the two countries, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” added the same source.

The two ministers also “discussed the developments in the Middle East and the Sahel-Saharan region.”

Attaf’s meeting with his Iranian counterpart provided an opportunity to “assess the current state of cooperation relations between the two countries” and to “explore ways to further enhance them.”

The two officials also discussed “opportunities to continue efforts within the Arab-Muslim group so as to increase pressure on the Zionist entity to stop its aggression and escalation in the Middle East,” highlighted the press release.

The discussions between Attaf and his Tunisian counterpart focused on “ways to enhance and broaden bilateral cooperation, aligning with the joint commitment of the leaders of both countries, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Kaïs Saïed, as well as following their directives to strengthen the strategic nature of Algerian-Tunisian relations.”

The Minister of State also shared views and analyses with his Togolese counterpart on “the current situation in the Sahel-Saharan region” and examined  “coordination opportunities to help reinforce the foundations of peace, security and development in this region.”
