Algeria presents condolences following death of French lawyer Gilles Devers

ALGIERS-Algeria extended on Wednesday its sincere condolences and deep compassion to the family of French lawyer Gilles Devers, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 68. Devers dedicated his professional life to advocating for the rights of oppressed peoples, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs stated in a press release.

“Following the death of the French lawyer Gilles Devers, who dedicated his professional life to advocating for the rights of oppressed peoples, Algeria presents its sincere condolences and expresses its deep compassion to the family of the deceased, his loved ones, and all defenders of just causes around the world,” read in the press release.

“With the loss of Maître Gilles Devers, the international legal community has lost an outstanding lawyer who excelled in defending liberation and emancipation causes in national and international courts. Until the very end of his life, he contributed to securing several historic legal victories for the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.” [/ecr]
