Attaf holds talks with Executive Secretary of Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization

ORAN-The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held on Sunday, in Oran, bilateral talks with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, on the sidelines of the 11th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa.

The discussions focused on the current status and prospects of the relations between Algeria and the CTBTO, as well as ways to collaborate so as to ensure greater involvement of African countries in the cooperation activities conducted by the Organization, particularly by leveraging the valuable opportunities offered by Oran Process.

In a press statement following the talks, Floyd emphasized that “the Peace and Security Council of the African Union is an important structure, not only for Africa but for the entire world.”

He also expressed his deep appreciation for Algeria’s support of the Organization.

Floyd praised Africa’s commitment to a world free of nuclear tests and, ultimately, a world completely free of nuclear weapons. [/ecr]
