11th High-Level Seminar on Peace, Security in Africa: Attaf holds bilateral meeting with Somali counterpart

ORAN-The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held Sunday, in Oran, a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, on the sidelines of the 11th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa.

In this respect, the two parties agreed to strengthen their mutual coordination on international and regional issues, as part of Somalia’s preparations for its entry as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and its integration into the group of African members of the council, starting from next January.

The discussions also focused on the bilateral relations between Algeria and Somalia, as well as ways to develop them.

In a press statement following the meeting, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi emphasized that his country is participating for the first time in Oran Process, which addresses important topics such as the fight against terrorism and Africa’s involvement in the affairs of the United Nations Security Council.

He also highlighted that Algeria’s experience as a member of the United Nations Security Council serves as a source of inspiration for Somalia. [/ecr]
