He was speaking at a study day on customs facilitations for startups, organized by the Directorate General of Customs (DGD) under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance and in coordination with the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises.
Held by videoconference, the day's proceedings were attended by the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, and the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, the Minister of Fishing and Fishery Production, Ahmed Badani, as well as the Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafid Bakhouche, customs’ executives, officers and employers, in addition to executives from regional directorates.
On this occasion, Faid commended the role of customs in supporting startups, through the facilitations granted under foreign trade operations. These measures, he continued, enable project promoters to expand their activities, both in terms of importing equipment and exporting.
These facilitations are of "particular importance as they are intended for a young generation that has already honored the country in numerous international competitions, achieving remarkable results that have earned the congratulations of the President of the Republic, who expressed his pride in our elite and reiterated his commitment to support their promising projects,” said the source.
Faid emphasized that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune was "particularly interested in startups that have distinguished themselves in various fields,” noting that the State has provided this with all the legislative and regulatory mechanisms to support them in expanding their projects and improving their competitiveness, through a favorable ecosystem encouraging the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people.
“This effort contributes to job creation and the integration of many parallel market activities into the formal sector," said the Minister.
For his part, the Minister for Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises welcomed the digital transition project launched by Customs, stressing the importance of start-up participation in this "ambitious project.”
Start-ups have attracted a great deal of interest in recent years thanks to "the strong political willingness expressed by the President of the Republic to move from a rent-based economy to a knowledge-based economy,” he stressed.
For his part, Major General Bakhouche emphasized that Customs was "an excellent support" for project holders, startups and young entrepreneurs, describing the latter as "a pioneering category which we must take advantage of to achieve a qualitative leap forward and the economic transformation we are aiming for.”[/ecr]
