Cherfa partakes in meeting of G7 Agriculture ministers, African counterparts in Italy

ALGIERS-The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa took part on Friday, alongside ministers from 11 African countries, in the G7 Agriculture Ministers' meeting being held in Syracuse (Italy), as part of Day 2 of the G7 Agricultural Forum, according to a Ministry press release.

The opening ceremony of the meeting of the G7 agriculture ministers (Italy, Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany and France) was chaired by Italy's Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, the same source said.

Day 2 of the Forum, attended by some 400 participants including international and regional organizations and bodies, is divided into thematic sessions, the first of which is devoted to discussing the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP), adopted by the African Union (AU) in 2014 to bring about agricultural transformation on the continent.     

During this session, participants will address the new challenges facing the continent and propose appropriate solutions. The 2nd session will focus on the theme of agriculture investment in Africa to highlight the main mechanisms for supporting agricultural development on the continent.[/ecr]
