Arkab held Monday talks, at Oran’s Convention Centre (CCO), Mohamed Benahmed, before the opening ceremony of the 12th NAPEC, with the delegation of the American energy company “ExxonMobil,” led by its vice president in charge of research and prospection, John Ardill, on partnership and investment opportunities and on ongoing consultations with Sonatrach so as to develop hydrocarbons, notably in the upstream petroleum and gas sector.
The cooperation relations, exchange of expertise and the transfer of savoir-faire, were discussed during this meeting that was held in the presence of the president of the National Agency for the Development of Hydraulic Resources (ANRH), the CEOs of Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, as well as the sector’s officials.
The minister examined, with a delegation of the British company “Harbour Energy,” chaired by the vice-president for North Africa and the Middle East, Sameh Sabry, cooperation and investment opportunities in energy and their development prospects, the British company underlined its will to boost its presence in Algeria, notably in the prospection of hydrocarbons, exploitation and development of natural gas fields with Sonatrach.
The two parties also discussed cooperation opportunities and the significant investment opportunities in the oil and gas industries, as well as in the areas of reducing emissions, carbon capture and storage, and reducing the carbon footprint, said the ministry.
On the eve of the opening of “NAPEC 2024,” Arkab held discussions with a delegation from the Norwegian group “Equinor,” accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador to Algeria, Therese Loken Gheziel.
The minister also held discussions with a delegation from the Spanish energy company “CEPSA,” led by its Executive Chairman, Maarten Wetselaar, on the cooperative relations with Sonatrach, expressing satisfaction with the quality of these relations, particularly in the field of hydrocarbons and the development of green hydrogen.
During his meeting with a delegation from the American energy company “Chevron,” led by the Vice President for International Exploration, Liz Schwartz, Arkab discussed the state of cooperative relations with Sonatrach, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two companies outlining the basic principles of the future approach for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the Ahnet and Berkine basins.
The two parties also discussed other aspects of cooperation, notably the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies, as well as the exchange of expertise, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbon exploration and well development, concluded the press release.[/ecr]
