El-Dardari was received by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Abdelkrim Aouissi, in the presence of the UNDP Resident Representative in Algeria, the Director General of the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE), as well as executives from the ministry and the UN organization.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the current state of Algeria-UNDP cooperation and review ongoing projects, especially those involving APRUE, following earlier discussions between the Energy and Mines Minister and the UNDP's Resident Representative in Algeria.

The talks centered on boosting cooperation efforts in expertise exchange and technical assistance for ongoing projects in energy efficiency and transition, model development and energy governance.

The discussions also explored expanding cooperation into renewable energy sectors, including solar PV and wind power, as well as green hydrogen development and implementation as an alternative energy source to reduce industrial carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation.

On this occasion, El-Dardari expressed keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Algeria on developing programs in energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy transition, while also focusing on green hydrogen development, especially its legal and regulatory framework.

In this regard, he noted that UNDP's technical team was prepared to hold meetings with Algerian executives and experts to develop a clear action plan for swift project implementation and to establish training programs focused on human capital development in these sectors, the same source said.
